IHC Issues Notification To Ministry, PTA Over Suspension Of Social Media Platform X


X remaining parts blocked off since previous Rawalpindi chief's claim in regards to survey fraud

The Islamabad High Court gave sees on Tuesday to the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) and ministry of Information on a request testing the suspension of social media platform X (previously Twitter).

The stage was blocked not long after the then Rawalpindi commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha blamed the Political decision Commission for Pakistan (ECP) and Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa of taking part in 'gear,' a charge disproved by both the discretionary watchdog and the Chief Justice. The social media app had before been suspended during the approach the February 8 surveys.

The appeal, documented by Ehtisham Abbasi on Monday, named the information  ministry and the PTA as respondents. IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the supplication and asked assuming that the social media platform  was as yet suspended in the country.

"X has been suspended since February 17," the petitioner answered and added that a knowing about a scorn supplication regarding this situation was planned for the Sindh High Court (SHC) today.

The petition further  said the undeclared suspension of the media platform abuses Article 19 of the Constitution and implored the court to give mandates to the respondents for the respondents of the boycott.

The court then concluded the conference till the next week and gave notification to the respondents.

The SHC has also heard the matter. During a previous hearing,  Chief Justice  Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi heard related petitions and ordered the rebuilding of all social media apps, including the microblogging site X.

The PTA lawyer informed the chief justice that the social media apps were suspended on the orders of the interior ministry. 

The high court also looked for a clarification from the relevant authorities in regards to the internet blackout on election day.
