A case was registered for establishing an illegal monopoly on a well-known company
17 states, including the US government, have filed a case against e-commerce (online shopping) platform Amazon for maintaining an illegal monopoly. The company is accused of putting its competitors at a disadvantage by keeping prices high.
The United States Federal Trade Commission and 17 Attorney Generals filed a lawsuit against Amazon for establishing an illegal monopoly after 4 years of investigation.
The Federal Trade Commission, headed by Pakistani-born Lena Khan, charged in a more than 100-page charge sheet that Amazon sold products on its platform at inflated prices.
The company is also accused of preventing merchants from lowering prices on its platform while Amazon is accused of using its delivery services.
It should be noted that the Amazon company did a business of 514 billion dollars last year in 2022.
